Keeping with their custom of metal battle hymns about the tasks of male in wartime, the brand-new record will be a concept album dedicated completely to the World War I. To commemorate the album's success, and to celebrate the Swedish king who motivated it, SABATON released an unique 300th-anniversary edition of "Carolus Rex" on November 30, which is the date Carolus Rex was killed in Norway. "This is not the first time we sing about stories from this period in time, but now we felt the timing was right to make a full principle album about this war," the band said.
The Great War combines Sabaton's style and sound following the remarkable line-up changes that have happened because the release of the band's most successful album to date, Carolus Rex in 2012.
